I’m specifically interested in what route a ship would’ve taken from the east coast of the U.S. to three different places: India, China and Africa. The time frame I’m interested in is between 1870-1900.
I don’t mean that all of the three places need to be reached in the same trip.

Good idea? NO? Why? Instead of acting as a trade agent, or buyer or seller i would have facility owners and suppliers agrree to cooperate to manufacture an end product and sell that product to foreign buyers? a sort of joint venture between a couple or maybe dozens of businesses.Their investment would be the volunteering of their hard assets to see the product through to sale. I would be the owner of the “Virtual Company” What are your thoughts?

Please provide details of an export-based nation and an import-based nation.

Further, what effect does an increase in a nation’s exports have on the nation’s exchange rate (both with the trading nation’s currency and other currencies)?
